The RenalTracker Team
May 15, 2019

I hope you enjoy reading this blog post. It has been written and vetted by RenalTracker's team of kidney experts and researchers. The same team was awarded the KidneyX Prize organized by the American Society of Nephrology and HHS for pre-dialysis solution in Washington DC in 2019.

If you want to join our exclusive coaching on how to avoid dialysis, book a call to see if you qualify.

Here's something you might agree on: it's not easy following a renal diet.

Lifestyle changes need to be made, even when you're still reeling from the shock of finding out that your kidneys are failing. Having kidney disease also forces you to let go and avoid some, if not all, of your favorite foods before. Patients we meet often say something along these lines...

"...But I don't know what to do. It's not that easy to choose which foods to eat and avoid for someone with my condition. This is really confusing..."

The truth, however, is this: choosing healthier foods is easier than you think. All you need is more information, and a little bit of assistance.

Taking the First Step

Studies show that nutritional treatment in early stages of CKD may prolong life and lower the risk of death by 53%. Healthy dietary patterns, coupled with dietitian care, can reduce mortality rate by 19%.

Other studies confirm that moderate salt restriction significantly reduces blood pressure for CKD Stages 1-4, while protein restriction can help delay the onset of dialysis.

This means that choosing the proper foods to eat is the easiest, most basic step you could take to start your way into slowing down your kidneys' decline.

This also means that you will have to revisit one of the most important sections of your house: your pantry.

Make Your Pantry Kidney-Friendly

Your pantry can be your best friend. Or it can be your worst enemy.

Basically, your first step should be to raid your pantry and get rid of the items there that worsen your kidney disease.

Processed foods like these...

Or these...

...should be removed and replaced with kidney-friendly food items, like...

This is why the RenalTracker Team is launching a new approach to renal dieting, one that will help you access the expertise of our dietitian and apply it directly to your food choices. We call it the RenalTracker Pantry Check.
